Web posting of the Bulletin of the Global Volcanism Network

Since the very first days of the Volcano Listserv the text of the Bulletin of the Global Volcanism Network has been posted on a regular basis when the hardcopy is mailed. It has also been available on the Internet since 1994, including as a PDF file on the GVP website for the past 7 years (with figures in color). We have decided to stop sending the complete text to the Listserve each month, but will continue to announce when the latest issue is available online.
Latest issue is always at: http://www.volcano.si.edu/reports/bulletin/contents.cfm?display=complete.
Links to PDF files and a Table of Contents with links to each report as part of the complete set of reports for that volcano can be found in the left-side menu.
August 2010 issue: http://www.volcano.si.edu/reports/bulletin/contents.cfm?issue=3508&display=complete
Nyamuragira (DR Congo) January 2010 flank eruption produces a new cone and 12-km-long lava flows
Seulawah Agam (Indonesia) Minor tremor during April-August 2010
Semeru (Indonesia) Incandescent rock avalanches travel 750 m, plumes reach 500 m above crater
Changbaishan (North Korea-China) Seismicity, deformation, and helium anomalies during 2003-2010
Avachinsky (Russia) Shallow earthquakes in 2005; plume in 2008
Augustine (Alaska) Shallow earthquakes during September 2007; improved monitoring infrastructure
Popocátepetl (México) Seismicity and small ash plumes ongoing through October 2010
We hope that everyone will stop by the GVP website (volcano.si.edu) frequently to catch up on the latest news or to just explore and learn about new volcanoes you’ve never heard about. Earlier this year approximately 3,000 new photos were posted to individual volcano galleries, so there are plenty of new photos to see. Every time you visit the home page a new random photo will appear.
If you still receive the printed copy by mail, but prefer to access it on our website to help us save resources send an email to gvp@xxxxxx with your name and address.
Best regards,
Rick Wunderman and Ed Venzke
