Tenure-track position - Volcanology
The Department of Geosciences at Idaho State University invites applications for a tenure-track position emphasizing volcanology beginning Fall 2011. The position is offered at the Assistant Professor level. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in geology or closely related field by August 1, 2011. The successful candidate should have a strong field volcanology background, and research and teaching interests in physical volcanology, as well as in one or more of the following fields: geothermal systems, igneous petrology, geochemistry, volcanic hazards, hard-rock hosted ore deposits or basalt-hosted carbon sequestration. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a vigorous research program that includes peer-reviewed publication and extramural funding. In addition, the position entails supervision of graduate and undergraduate student research projects, teaching a full range of pertinent classes, and participation in ISU's geology field camp.
