Eyjafjallajökull Eruption Workshop

17 - 19 September 2010 at Hotel Hvolsvöllur, Eyjafjallajökull area

A workshop on the Eyjafjallajökull eruptions and consequences of small-scale explosive eruptions will be held during 17-19 September, 2010 following the "Eyjafjallajökull and Aviation Conference," (http://en.keilir.net/keilir/conferences/eyjafjallajokull) , organized by Keilir Aviation Academy at Keflavik International Airport, Iceland on 15 - 16 September, 2010.

The workshop will provide a unique opportunity to explore the local effects of the 2010 Eyjafjallajökull eruptions and observe their deposits, and to put these in context with other recent eruptions. There will be two days of field trips, and three oral discussion sessions in evenings and last day, focusing on

 1.. Geophysical monitoring of sub-surface activity prior to and during the eruptions;
 2.. Eruption observations and quantification of effusion rates; and
 3.. Lessons learned from Eyjafjallajökull and other recent eruptions.
