New web application for electrical conductivity calculations
From: Anne Pommier <apommier@xxxxxxx>

Dear all,

I would like to draw your attention to a new free web application called
SIGMELTS which performs calculations of electrical conductivity for the
geosciences. You can find it at the following URL:
     http://www.calcul.isto.cnrs-orleans.fr/sigmelts/

Based on a compilation of previous studies, SIGMELTS computes the electrical
conductivity of silicate melts, carbonatites, minerals, fluids, mantle
materials as a function of different parameters, such as composition,
temperature, pressure, water content, oxygen fugacity. Calculations on
two-phase mixtures are also possible using existing mixing models for different
geometries.

The main aim of this web application is to make electrical conductivity data in
laboratory more accessible for the geophysical community, in order to improve
the interpretation of magnetotelluric anomalies detected in the crust and
mantle of the Earth.

SIGMELTS has been put together in collaboration with E. Le Trong (ISTO, France).
If you encounter any problems when using it, have any questions or suggestions
for further applications, please contact us. The use of SIGMELTS is for
non-commercial academic research only.

Best regards,

Anne Pommier
