Dear colleague,

We warmly invite you to submit a contribution to session NH10 entitled
"Volcanic Ash and Aerosols: Monitoring, Modeling, Forecasting and Hazards"
in the upcoming AGU "Meeting of the Americas", to be held in
Foz do Iguassu (Brazil) during 8-13 August 2010 (http://www.agu.org/meetings/ja10/).

Abstract submission deadline is 31 March 2010.

Session NH10 co-sponsors:
------------------------------
-------
"Global Environmental Change"
"Volcanology, Geochemistry and Petrology"
"Atmospheric Sciences"
"Earth and Space Science Informatics"

Session NH10 summary:
--------------------------------
During major explosive volcanic eruptions large amounts of ash and aerosols are injected into the atmosphere. Fallout of
lapilli and coarse ash produce multiple hazards. Volcanic ash clouds, composed of fine ash and sulfur aerosols, jeopardize
aerial navigation. Volcanic aerosols impact on air quality and atmospheric pollution. Aerosols injected in the stratosphere
can remain trapped exerting a major influence on the atmospheric radiative balance. This session focus on detecting,
retrieving, and modeling volcanic ash and aerosols and on the evaluation of the resulting hazards.

Best regards,

Arnau Folch and Antonio Costa
