We are seeking an enthusiastic and capable individual that is interested in working on projects related to volcanism in the Izu-Bonin-Mariana arc, as well as the time scales of magma degassing and crystal growth. Prior experience with whole rock and glass analysis for element concentrations, radiogenic isotopic compositions, and U-series nuclide abundances, and/or volatile and trace element concentrations in mineral-hosted glass inclusions is required. Experience with managing a geochemisty laboratory is desirable. The position is for one year, with the potential for an extension for a second year. The preferred start date for the position is October 1, 2009, but other start dates will be considered. Candidates will begin to be evaluated on August 1, 2009.
