Visiting Assistant Professor– University of Nevada Las Vegas

The Department of Geoscience (http://geoscience.unlv.edu/) at UNLV invites
applications for a temporary, full time, 9-month, non-tenure track faculty
position commencing Fall 2009. Primary responsibilities are teaching
of introductory
level courses for non-science majors and lower and upper division courses for
undergraduate majors. The Department seeks a dynamic and enthusiastic
individual with a
commitment to undergraduate education. A minimum requirement is a
Ph.D. degree in
geoscience or sub-discipline of geoscience from an accredited college
or university.
Salary competitive, contingent upon labor market and contingent upon funding.

The department has an enthusiastic faculty of 18, and opportunities exist
for collaboration with a number of dynamic research groups. The
Department houses modern
laboratories including XRD, XRF, SEM with EBSD, EPMA, noble gas and
stable isotope mass
spectrometry, and an environmental soil chemical analysis laboratory.
