The Alaska Volcano Observatory has received a request from a local company
requesting technical information on the affect of ashfall on oil refinery
operations, and on specific mitigation practices. These facilities operate
at very high temperatures and there is concern about the ingestion and
melting of volcanic ash. We would appreciate any information on this
topic. Those references in the form of electronic documents and/or
Powerpoint briefings would be especially useful. Thank you for your
consideration of this request.
