Dear Colleagues,

Please consider contributing to a special session organized by Monica
Handler and myself on non-traditional tracers of arc processes at the
upcoming Goldschmidt meeting in Davos (June 21-26 2009). Abstracts are
due by 22 Feb (see www.goldschmidt2009.org/index). Further details are
below.

Novel tracers of slab components and new insights into the evolution
of arc magmas (session 06c)

Description
Our understanding of crustal and fluid recycling and magmatic
evolution at subduction zones is being revolutionised through the
application of increasingly diverse non-traditional geochemical
tracers, ranging for example, from light elements (e.g. Li, Be, B, N)
to chalcophile elements (e.g. Re, PGE), halogen and transition metal
stable isotopes to U-series isotopes. This session seeks contributions
that utilise non-traditional and novel geochemical tracers to
investigate subduction zone processes, including timescales and
mechanisms, from deep recycling through to high-level magmatic
processes. Contributions that integrate several approaches or
highlight novel applications of abundance or isotopic systems are
particularly encouraged.

Invited Speakers
Tim Elliot (Keynote; Bristol), Alison Shaw (WHOI), Jaime Barnes (Univ.
New Mexico)

Convenors
Monica Handler (Victoria University of Wellington)
Adam Kent (Oregon State University)
