Colleagues,

Please consider contributing to a special session on Microanalytical
Research and Instrumentation at the upcoming Goldschmidt meeting in
Davos (June 21-26 2009). Abstracts are due by 22 Feb (see
www.goldschmidt2009.org/index).

Theme 18a

Recent Developments in Microbeam and Microanalytical Research and
Instrumentation
Convenors: John Valley, Ingo Horn, Simone Kasemann, Detlev Günther
Keynote: John Eiler (Caltech)

New and improved techniques for in situ microanalysis of isotope
ratios and trace elements allow correlation with other forms of
imaging, have produced dramatic reductions in sample size, and are
improved in accuracy and precision. These capabilities contribute to
more fundamental understanding in a wide range of disciplines
including: biomineralization, diagenesis, paleo-climate,
geochronology, diffusion studies, and meteoritics. This session seeks
contributions describing new analytical approaches and geochemical
applications of in situ microanalysis including: ion microprobe,
micro-XRF, and laser microprobe.

Convenors: John Valley, Ingo Horn, Simone Kasemann, Detlev Günther
