******************************************************************* From: Jonathan Groce <Jonathan.Groce@xxxxxxxxx> ******************************************************************* Lion Television (<http://www.liontv.us/index.html>) is developing a new series for Discovery, and I was wondering if you would be interested in it, or perhaps you know somebody who would be good. At the core of our show for Discovery, we would like to do a show tentatively titled "VOLCANO HUNTER(S)" that will follow a team led by an expert explorer who has the research/science to back up his or her credibility. This Volcano Hunter will then survey the most dangerous Volcanoes in North and South America, and each episode will follow the team on a new expedition to explore a volcano from top to bottom. We are looking to feature a variety of people in the show, so if you are interested in hosting or serving as an expert - please contact me. Each episode will feature: -history of the volcano -scientific exploration of its caverns -forecasting and predicting methods -the villages/people who live around the volcano We would like our diversity to range from Alaska to Hawaii, from the Rocky Mountains to the jungles of South America. Perhaps the Hunter, in each episode, can tackle a new region. Alaska could be an episode, then Washington State, etc. The eruption of Chaiten Volcano could be a great place to start. There will thus be a nice balance between your typical NOVA program, with a sense of adventure. We would like to see our Hunter in the air, under water, spelunking, and connecting with the people that a volcano has affected, or could affect. This is a show that could be epic, and wants to stand out from the countless documentaries on Volcanoes already in play. The show thus depends on an extremely strong character or character. Somebody we can watch and fall in love with, and follow. However, Lion Television is committed to ensuring expertise. We do not just want some pretty face to be paired with a crew. Let me know if you are interested, or perhaps you know somebody who is. Right now we are simply looking to attach a talented expert with the show, and work out the schedule later. We are surprisingly effective when it comes to shooting these shows. If somebody is in the education world, perhaps we can work around their syllabus. Thanks!
