******************************************************************** From: Ken Dean <ken.dean@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> ******************************************************************** The Geophysical Institute (GI) and the Department of Geology & Geophysics at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) seek applicants to fill a joint tenure-track position in remote sensing. The position offers opportunities for research at the GI as a member of the Earth and Planetary Remote Sensing Group and carries the responsibility of teaching 1-2 courses per year as a faculty member (quarter-time, 2.25 months/yr) in the Department of Geology & Geophysics. The appointment is intended at the level of assistant or associate professor. The successful applicant will pursue externally funded research focusing on remote sensing of earth surface processes (such as coastal environments, geomorphology & crustal deformation, environmental geology & geophysics, or other relevant fields). Teaching will focus on microwave remote sensing and complement existing strengths at UAF. Research facilities include satellite ground receiving stations, an image-processing and GIS teaching lab, and data archives. Opportunities exist for collaboration with other groups within the GI and across campus, such as the Alaska Satellite Facility, the Geographic Information Network of Alaska, the Alaska Volcano Observatory, the Alaska Ocean Observing System, or the Arctic Region Supercomputing Center.
