This project will investigate the fundamental controls on magma degassing through a combination of laboratory analogue experiments, numerical models, petrological experiments and field monitoring. You should have a PhD in experimental petrology, ideally with experience of internally-heated gas apparatus, and an interest in sub-volcanic processes. This post is for 12 months from 1st April 2009. If successful, you may be appointed either on a fixed term or a permanent contract depending on the extent of your previous relevant research experience.
