Apart from remarkable footage of eruptive activity of the summit craters (and equally remarkable activities of the two people taking the shots...) there is excellent coverage of daily life in the villages. The population then was entirely dependent on fishing and a bit of agriculture, and tourism was only slowly starting. Many locals emigrated from the island. Even scenes of departure are documented.
