Greetings,

We would like to invite you to participate in the following session to
be held at the IAVCEI General Assembly 2008. The deadline for abstract
submission is 1 April 2008:

2-l Physical characteristics of ignimbrites

The shape, distribution and physical appearance of ignimbrite deposits
is influenced by many factors, occurring on range of scales, both during
and post-emplacement. This session will be concerned with observations
and measurements of ignimbrites from field to remote sensing level that
can lead to better characterization of ignimbrite extents, sources,
lithologies, welding intensity (rank or grade), and depositional,
post-depositional, and erosion histories. This increased understand of
ignimbrite properties will lead to a greater understanding of
emplacement mechanisms and the processes behind large-scale eruptive
volcanism.
