The Volcanology group at Simon Fraser University
(http://www.sfu.ca/~glynwj/) is again looking for 3 volunteer field
assistants to help with ongoing geophysical and gas geochemistry surveys
at Masaya Volcano, Nicaragua.

Surveys of the active summit craters will consist of self-potential,
soil CO2 and temperature mapping, dynamic and continuous gravity
measurements and SO2 gas flux monitoring. The volunteers will receive
training in all these methods as well as exposure to graduate level
volcanic research. While no specific volcanological background is
necessary, spoken English and/or French is required and Spanish would be
beneficial.

This years field campaign will be from March 10th to March 31st. While
volunteers need not necessarily come for the entire period, priority
will go to those who can stay the full time. Although we can not pay
your airfare to Managua, all living costs and field expenses will be
covered.
