6 - 9 December 2007 (Immediately before the Fall AGU Conference)
Halogens in Volcanic Systems and Their Environmental Impacts, Yosemite National Park, CA.

Sponsors: McGill University (Others: D. Baker; Tel.: 1-514-398-7485; E-mail: donb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx;

A. Aiuppa; E-mail: aiuppa@xxxxxxxx; J. Webster; E-mail: jdw@xxxxxxxx)

The aim of the workshop is to bring together international researchers and students to discuss our understanding of halogens in volcanic systems and their impacts on other parts of the Earth system. The meeting will consist of invited and contributed oral presentations with ample time for discussion. The topics will range from experimental studies on halogen diffusion and solubility in melts, to field investigations of halogen behavior in volcanic gas emissions and related plutonic systems to the global and regional environmental impacts of volcanic halogen degassing. The number of participants is limited and participants are encouraged to register early. On-line registration begins on or about July 20, 2007.

In order to make the necessary arrangements, all seriously interested graduate students and postdocs should contact me directly at jdw@xxxxxxxx as soon as possible.
