Dear All,

* Mount Etna produces catalyst for nanocarbons *
Researchers in Germany have shown that volcanic lava can be used as an efficient catalyst in the first step for producing carbon nanotubes and nanofibres. The result is not as surprising as it might seem: volcano lava rock is extremely porous and naturally contains large quantities of iron oxide particles - just what is needed to synthesize carbon nanomaterials.
