******************************************************* Volcano noble gas database and thermal water database ******************************************************* From: Shaul Hurwitz <shaulh@xxxxxxxx> We are pleased to announce the publication two new USGS online databases: 1. USGS-NoGaDat -- A Global Dataset of Noble Gas Concentrations and Their Isotopic Ratios in Volcanic Systems, by A.A. Abedini, S. Hurwitz, and W.C. Evans, U.S. Geological Survey DigitalData Series, 202. http://pubs.water.usgs.gov/ds202/ This database contains almost 5,000 entries of published information on noble gas concentrations and isotopic ratios from volcanic systems in Mid-Ocean ridges, ocean islands, seamounts, and oceanic and continental arcs. Where available the isotopic ratios of strontium, neodymium, and carbon were also included. The database is sub-divided both into material sampled (e.g., volcanic glass, different minerals, fumarole, spring), and into different tectonic settings (MOR, ocean islands, volcanic arcs). Included is also a large reference list. 2. Chemical and isotopic database of water and gas from hydrothermal systems with an emphasis for the western United States, by R.H. Mariner, D.Y. Venezky, and S. Hurwitz, U.S. Geological Survey DigitalData Series, 169. http://pubs.usgs.gov/ds/2005/169/ This database contains chemical and isotopic analyses of waters (thermal, mineral, or fresh) and associated gas (free and/or dissolved) collected from hot springs, mineral springs, cold springs, geothermal wells, fumaroles, and gas seeps. Additional information is available about the collection methods and analysis procedures. ============================================================== To unsubscribe from the volcano list, send the message: signoff volcano to: listserv@xxxxxxx, or write to: volcano-request@xxxxxxxx To contribute to the volcano list, send your message to: volcano@xxxxxxxx Please do not send attachments. ==============================================================
