2006 Goldschmidt session V7-01: Call For Abstracts
***************************************************
From: Joseph Pyle <pylej@xxxxxxx>

16th Annual VM Goldschmidt Conference
Melbourne, Australia
27 August - 1 September 2006

Special Session S7-01: Accessory phases and trace elements: links
between geochronology and petrology

Through variations in texture, isotopic and chemical composition,
accessory phases record changes in parameters including pressure,
temperature, stress, fluid composition, and mineral assemblage.
Dating of accessory minerals has the potential to link these
parameters with time, allowing petrologists to access segments of the
overall temporal variation in P-T-X-deformation within a rock cycle.
This symposium addresses analytical instrumentation, trace-element
and isotope markers, and theoretical modeling used to correlate
accessory mineral ages with unique conditions or processes occurring
in tectonometamorphic and magmatic events.

We have an outstanding lineup of keynote and invited speakers slated
for this session:

Keynotes:

*John C. Ayers, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee, USA.

*Ian Fitzsimons, Curtin University, Perth, Western Australia, Australia.

Invited Speakers:

- Ian Buick - Monash University, Australia
- Hans-Jürgen Förster - Universität Potsdam, Germany
- Dan Harlov - GeoForschungsZentrum Germany
- Nigel Kelly - University of Edinburgh, UK
- Anne-Magali Seydoux Guillaume - Laboratoire des Mécanismes et
Transferts en Géologie, France
- Andreas Möller - Universität Potsdam, Germany

This session is one of several special sessions under the overall
theme of "Geochemical constraints on timescales and mechanisms of
tectonic processes ". We are actively soliciting contributed
abstracts on accessory phase and/or trace element oriented studies
rooted both in nature and experiment. The abstract deadline for the
2006 Goldschmidt Conference is 13 April 2006.

We look forward to your contributions, and gathering in Melbourne in
August.

Joseph Pyle (Rensselaer, Troy, NY, USA)
Daniela Rubatto (ANU, Canberra, Australia)
