From: Daisy Mulholland <careers@xxxxxxxxxx>

GNS Science, Te Pu Ao, is a Crown Research Institute. Our core purpose
is to understand earth systems and physics-based technologies and to
transform this knowledge into economic and social benefits for New
Zealand.

Within GNS Science, the Natural Hazards Group undertakes research into
hazards and risks related to earthquakes, volcanoes, landslides and
tsunami, is responsible through the GeoNet project for the monitoring of
these hazards, and is also responsible for the national geological
mapping programme.

We have several vacancies which offer an interesting blend of scientific
research and commercial consultancy opportunities.

Volcano Scientist/Senior Volcano Scientist
Taupo, New Zealand

We are seeking a Scientist to undertake collaborative research into
volcanic processes using a wide range of volcano datasets and assist in
the management of volcano crisis response. The position could be filled
at either a junior or senior level, depending upon experience.

The successful applicant will be have a PhD and experience in volcano
geology, vulcanology, volcano hazard and risk quantification or volcano
crisis response.

Volcano Geophysicist/Senior Volcano Geophysicist
Taupo, New Zealand

We are seeking a Scientist to undertake research into volcanic processes
using seismological data (and other geophysical techniques) and assist
in volcano crisis response. The position could be filled at either a
junior or senior level, depending upon experience. The successful
applicant will also contribute to the GeoNet project (www.geonet.org.nz)
through being a member of the volcano duty team.

The successful applicant will have a PhD and experience in volcano
geophysics or seismology, and an ability to undertake research in
earthquake waveform modelling.

Remote-sensing/Geodetic Scientist
Lower Hutt, New Zealand

We are seeking a Scientist to undertake research into volcanic, tectonic
and other surface change processes using remote-sensing and geodetic
techniques. The successful candidate will provide scientific leadership
in satellite and airborne remote sensing techniques and applications
including delivery of appropriately derived information during a natural
hazard emergency, and will participate in the interpretation of geodetic
and remote sensing data from volcanic and other regions.

The successful applicant will have a PhD in remote-sensing, geodesy, or
geophysics and experience in satellite and/or airborne remote sensing
techniques and experience in the use and interpretation of GPS data, and
modelling and interpretation of volcano deformation.

Research Geologist - Earthquake Geology & Paleoseismology
Lower Hutt, New Zealand

We are seeking a Geologist to work in a team of Earthquake Geologists
and Researchers to work on research and consultancy projects in
earthquake geology and paleoseismology, and their application to
tectonics and hazard and risk assessment, both in New Zealand and
offshore. For more information on the nature of the work please contact
Andrew King (A.King@xxxxxxxxxx), Russ Van Dissen
(R.VanDissen@xxxxxxxxxx) or Kelvin Berryman (K.Berryman@xxxxxxxxxx).
