Are you sure that the catalyst switch can do IVL? If they can
only do SVL, then it won't work.
For those that don't know it: IVL (independent vlan learning) has
a mac-address table per vlan (probably implemented by adding the
vlan to the mac as key), and SVL (shared vlan learning) has a
shared mac-address table.
Usually switches < $1000 won't do IVL (at the time I started
using vlans, maybe that has changed), unless you are talking
about those cheap routers that use something called mac-cloning
(and from the description, I guess it is a kind of IVL).
