Yes, I'm using GNOME Shell, and yes the dialog has desktop theming.
I thought I'd stopped GNOME from acting as an ssh-agent but evidently
they've changed things again.  It happens every two or three years.

Thanks for the hint.  I'll go and pester the GNOMEs.
