This sounds like a lot more work then simply getting a remote that
better suits your needs.

For the record, I also have accidentally started an instant-recording
but after years of using VDR, I've only done it a few times and it was
no problem to just delete go delete it.  I also have intentionally
started an instant-recording and am glad I didn't have to confirm it.

Call me crazy but problems like 'my kid starts recordings' and 'my
remote doesnt have enough buttons' seem like issues easily solved by
the user, not VDR.  And yes, I'm a parent too.  I guess Klaus will
decide is addressing those is appropriate for the VDR core but if so,
I sure hope the new osd implementation comes first! :]
 
I vote with my 2 hands for OSD priority as well.
Having a remote with less buttons might be done in intention to have smaller and sexier
devices in your living room. MCE is not a nice thing to look at :)
