VDR developer version 1.3.24

Hi,

I loaded vdr-1.3.24 yesterday. It built OK, installed and I rebooted just to
ensure I had clean everything.

Watching TV was fine, worked well. But as soon as I started to record
something I got very jittery, stuttering display. Seems I started getting
video stream errors which caused VDR to crash:

May 10 23:10:00 vdr vdr[18942]: record
/video0/Get_Carter/2005-05-10.23:10.99.99.rec
May 10 23:10:02 vdr vdr[18942]: switching to channel 6
May 10 23:10:02 vdr vdr[18942]: info: Channel not available!
May 10 23:10:02 vdr vdr[18953]: channel 11 (BBC NEWS 24) event 23:00 'BBC
News' status 4
May 10 23:10:04 vdr vdr[18942]: switching to channel 1
May 10 23:20:10 vdr vdr[393]: ERROR: video data stream broken
May 10 23:20:10 vdr vdr[393]: initiating emergency exit
May 10 23:20:10 vdr vdr[18942]: emergency exit requested - shutting down
May 10 23:20:10 vdr vdr[18942]: stopping plugin: status
May 10 23:20:10 vdr vdr[18942]: stopping plugin: statusleds
May 10 23:20:10 vdr vdr[18942]: timer 22 (1 2310-0125 'Get Carter') stop
May 10 23:20:10 vdr vdr[18942]: saved setup to /root/vdr/setup.conf
May 10 23:20:10 vdr lircd-0.7.1[4184]: removed client
May 10 23:20:11 vdr vdr[18942]: deleting plugin: status
May 10 23:20:11 vdr vdr[18942]: deleting plugin: statusleds
May 10 23:20:11 vdr vdr[18942]: exiting
May 10 23:20:11 vdr vdr[18942]: emergency exit!

I didn't get these before. I tried three times, and got the same error. As
the recording was on a timer, it was crashing within a minute or two of
coming up.

I reverted to 1.3.23 and all seems fine again.

System is a P2.4, running Mandrake 10.0, and a 2.6.5 kernel. DVB's come
direct from the kernel. Using a TT-FF terrestrial card.

Could it be, that after many attempts to get DVD recording working with lots
of kernel extensions loaded, I have adjusted the kernel integrity? Is this
the time to restart the OS and go back to a clean install? It would be a
pain (as I don't have a display screen on the VDR box) but potentially
do-able. Thoughts?

Adrian
