 Well, the problem is not any standard. The problem is that for people
 who re-use/apply your patches is more comfortable to use standard git
 utils to extract patches from your emails. 
 
 This is nothing critical for me because traffic on this mailing list
 is relatively small, but I also prefer patches from git-format-patch
 + git-send-email.
