FYI, Karel has told me that he would also like to use pkg-config for
both cases, and I adopted his view.

So the reasoning from the preceding mail is now just a theoretical
one, the upcoming revision of my patch will call pkg-config also for
dynamically linked binaries.

I have not managed to finish the patch today, so I'm sending this
note.
