Thursday’s Fossil Creek public meeting in Flagstaff postponed
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz., Feb. 19, 2019, For Immediate Release —
The public meeting scheduled for Thursday in Flagstaff for the Fossil Creek Draft Comprehensive River Management Plan (CRMP) and draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS)
has been rescheduled due to anticipated inclement weather. The public meeting will now be held
Feb. 27 from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Coconino National Forest Supervisor’s Office, 1824 S. Thompson St., Flagstaff. In an effort to manage the Fossil Creek Wild and Scenic River and meet the requirements of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act, the Coconino
and Tonto national forests have prepared a draft CRMP and DEIS. The final CRMP will guide Forest Service management of the Fossil Creek Wild and Scenic River for at least the next 15 to 20 years. The goal of the plan is to protect and enhance Fossil Creek’s
free flow, water quality, and its defined outstandingly remarkable values while providing for public use and enjoyment of this unique Arizona environment. The public is invited to comment on the project, including its management alternatives. The draft CRMP, DEIS, and a 12-page Reader’s
Guide can be accessed online at http://tinyurl.com/FossilCreekCRMP.
