Pile burns next week throughout the forest FLAGSTAFF, Ariz., Nov. 30, 2018, For Immediate Release —
Fire managers will be conducting slash pile burns near Flagstaff, Mountainaire and southwest of Clints Well throughout next week.
Flagstaff Area
On Monday fire managers are planning to conduct smaller pile burns near Mount Elden’s
Fatman’s Loop trail, west of U.S. Highway 89 and also large slash piles east of Mountainaire. Smoke will be evident to the surrounding communities, motorists using U.S. Highway 89 and Interstate 17. Smoke is expected to disperse toward
the west and settle in low lying areas during the evening hours near the burn sites. If conditions allow, fire managers are also planning to conduct pile burns near the airport and various campgrounds in the Flagstaff Ranger District later in the week.
Clints Well Area
Fire managers are planning to continue burning large slash piles Monday near the intersection of state
Routes 87 and 260 southwest of Clints Well. Smoke is expect to move west and may be noticeable by motorists and local residents. Smoke will settle during evening hours in the West Clear Creek Wilderness and impact low lying areas near the burn site.
