Media Contact: Bob Blasi Bald Fire Update: Williams, Ariz., Aug 07, 2018—For Immediate Release. The Bald Fire located on the south face of Sitgreaves Mountain on the Williams Ranger District of the Kaibab National Forest has grown to 85 acres and continues to meet forest
health objectives. BALD FIRE OVERVIEW Start Date: July 22, 2018. Cause: Lightning. Location: South slope of Sitgreaves Mountain southwest of Spring Valley. Current Size: Approximately 85 acres. Resources: 1-Type 3 Engine Current Status: The Bald Fire is continuing to grow at a moderate pace moving down slope to the southwest with very favorable fire effects. Burning for just over two weeks, the fire is currently backing off the higher terrain with
one to two foot flame lengths consuming dead and down fuels scattered across the surface left behind from the 2014 Sitgreaves fire.
