Culvert damage closes Harbor Mountain Road
SITKA, Alaska, Sept. 6, 2017–The
Harbor Mountain Road (Forest Service System Road 7576) is closed above gate 2 (milepost 2.62) to motorized use due to culvert damage from heavy rain. The road is narrow and unstable. Non-motorized traffic may continue to use the road. The repair date is currently
unknown. The turning area and vehicle parking is limited at gate 2. Parking is recommended at the rock pit approximately
a half mile below gate 2. Call the Sitka Ranger District at 907-747-6671 during business hours for updated information.
