Timber harvesting operations begin near state Routes 260, 87

Clint’s Well, Ariz., Aug. 23, 2017, For Immediate Release — Timber harvesting operations begin this week on the Mogollon Rim Ranger District approximately one mile north of the intersection of state Routes 87 and 260, off Forest Road 144.

Southwest Forest Products will be harvesting timber over a 2,000 acre area on the Tule 3 multi-product timber sale, and travelers along state Route 260 near FR 144 should be aware of logging trucks and heavy equipment using the roads during felling operations.

The timber sale helps thin crowded stands of ponderosa pine and improves the natural ecosystem processes such as watershed functionality, wildlife habitat, overall forest health, and provides a supply of economically viable timber.

For questions on timber sales on the Mogollon Rim Ranger District, please contact Marshall Randol at 928-477-5047 or by email at mrandol@xxxxxxxxx.
