Availability of “Last Four” Anan Wildlife Observatory Permits
WRANGELL, Alaska, June 19,
2017–Visitors will soon be able to request the “last four” daily permits for the Anan Wildlife Observatory
this summer. These permits, four available for every day of the season, are held until now to accommodate last-minute planning and need to be requested in-person at the Wrangell Ranger District, up to one week in advance. Requests will be made by filling out
a form at the front desk. Individuals listed on the form must be physically present at the time of request (with the exception of family members only). Weekly requests will be collected by Monday at 4:30 p.m. and awarded on Tuesday by noon. If several requests
are for the same day, a lottery for awarding reservation space will be held on Tuesdays at 9 a.m. If there is any space left, requests will be accommodated on a first come/first serve basis through the front desk
during regular business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.). The request schedule is as follows:
*The Wrangell Ranger District Office will be closed July 4 for the holiday. Requests for permits to visit Anan July 5 through July 11 must
be received by NOON on JULY 3. Permits that would normally be awarded by noon on Tuesday (July 4) will be awarded by the close of business on JULY 3.
