Friday Night Insight features
ornamental edibles KETCHIKAN, Alaska, March 14, 2017 –Join
the Tongass Community Food Alliance (TCFA) to learn about ornamental edibles, designing your vegetable garden to look and taste great, at the Friday Night Insight, March 17.
The presentation takes place at 6 p.m.
in the Elizabeth Peratrovich Theater, inside the Southeast Alaska Discovery Center.
Beyond Flowering Kale explores ornamental garden designs using
vegetables, fruits and herbs. This talk highlights plants that have been successfully grown by local gardeners.
A reception, hosted by the TCFA, begins at 5p.m., with
refreshments and an informal seed swap. The TCFA will not be providing cups, materials for the exchange of seeds, but encourages you to swap amongst yourselves. The Southeast Alaska Discovery Center and exhibit halls are open Fridays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
this winter. Admission is free. Visitors are welcome to enjoy the exhibits, purchase maps and America the Beautiful passes, and learn about the forest from an interpretive ranger. A variety of films exploring the natural and cultural history of Alaska will
be played in the theater upon request until 5 p.m. The Southeast Alaska Discovery Center is located at 50 Main Street in Ketchikan.
