Juneau Ranger District seeks applications for natural resource projects Juneau, Alaska, Nov 2, 2016 – The public is invited
to submit funding applications for natural resource projects in the Juneau area. These funds are distributed through the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act. Proposals are due December 1, 2016. Funds may be used for projects on federal
and non-federal lands that benefit National Forest System lands. Approximately half of the funding will be granted to road, trail, and watershed projects. The Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act provides funds for a variety of activities that benefit Federal lands and resources in the benefiting
community. The Title II funds are designed to make investments in public lands and create additional employment opportunities through projects that improve the maintenance of existing infrastructure, implement stewardship objectives that enhance forest ecosystems,
and restore and improve land health and water quality. These projects are also designed to improve cooperative relationships among people that use and care for public lands and the agencies that manage these lands. The Title II funds are managed by Federal agencies. The Juneau Resource Advisory Committee, made up of local citizens, will recommend how these funds will be
spent. The committee could have nearly $110,000 to fund projects this year. The review process will result in only projects being selected, not recipients. For proposals to be considered, please ensure that National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) analysis
has been completed for the project. Applications may be found at Juneau Ranger District office, 8510 Mendenhall Loop Rd., 99801, or online at
http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fseprd522434.pdf.
These can be submitted via mail, email, or hand delivered to District office. In addition, proposals can be submitted electronically at

Individuals and groups interested in submitting projects are encouraged to discuss their project proposals with the Juneau Resource Advisory Committee coordinator
