Ladies & Gentlemen, Good afternoon! Attached is the Fuller Fire update for Wednesday, July 20, 2016. Thank you! Respectfully, David
Smoldering continues; drier weather predicted
Fire: Fuller Fire Containment:
5%
Acres:
14,131
Start Date: June 29, 2016
Cause:
Lightning
Location: Point Imperial, N. Rim Grand Canyon NP
Total Personnel:
572
Fuels/Topography: Timber, grass, rugged terrain
Yesterday:
Crews continued to hold and strengthen containment lines to the north and south of the fire. Firefighters also begin mop-up operations including the removal of hazard trees near roads along
the fire perimeter. Internal smoldering continued to reduce the build-up of dead woody material on the forest floor.
Today: Additional rains and cloud cover are expected to limit new fire growth for a third day in a row. However with
drier conditions predicted for Thursday, crews are continuing to prep existing roads to the north ahead of any potential fire growth. Along Cape Royal Road, firefighters will continue mop-up operations as they seek and destroy any hot spots near existing fire
perimeter control lines. The fire will continue to smolder and creep toward the west and within the interior of the fire.
“There is still active fire on the landscape,” said Stewart Turner, Fire Behavior Analyst with the Southwest Incident Management Team 3. “Our firefighters will remain vigilant as we hold the fire
in some areas and allow healthy spread in others.”
Smoke:
South winds will push any light smoke produced to the north over the House Rock Valley area.

(FSR 8910). Trails: Arizona Trail: Lindberg Hill north to the Park boundary; Ken Patrick Trail: starting at the Uncle Jim Trail junction; Point Imperial Trail; Nankoweap Trail; Saddle Mountain Trail, South Canyon Trail. Road closures include: Fuller Canyon
