Tusayan Ranger District Fire Update Tusayan, Ariz., July 14, 2016—For Immediate Release.
Incident commander Jason McClain is taking management control of the fire as there is a transition to a smaller type 3 organization today. Visible smoke from the fire should continue to decrease over the next few days as crews complete mopping up of the remaining
active fire line and implement rehabilitation plans for dozer and hand lines. Though there are fewer crews working the fire, drivers should still use extreme caution and be mindful of fire fighters working along the roads particularly driving along FR 310
south of Grand View Tower and FR 307. The 9-mile section of the Arizona Trail and a large area of National Forest surrounding the Scott Fire will remain closed until further notice. Thru hikers may detour on to FR 310 which parallels the trail, but please be mindful of traffic
from the fire operations in the area. Forest officials are working closely with fire managers and will reopen the trail and area as soon as it is safe to do so. Trail and area closure information are available at
