National Forest System Road 6350 closed due to unsafe bridges

PETERBURG, Alaska–The National Forest System Road 6350 (Tonka Road) on the Petersburg Ranger District is closed beginning at MP 2.3, until further notice, due to two unsafe bridges. Any motorized vehicle should not cross the bridges.

The Forest Service is pursuing both a short term repair and a long term repair for the bridge at mile point 2.3 and hopes to have access restored within two weeks. The log stringer bridge at mile point 15.225 will likely remain closed for a longer period.

Forest Service Road 6350 is located on the Lindenberg Peninsula on Kupreanof Island.
