Fish Possession on the Situk River YAKUTAT, Alaska–Please help us to reduce the number of negative bear-human interactions and defense of life and property situations
along the Situk River. “Anglers are reminded a forest order remains in effect to try to reduce bear conditioning to humans, specifically to reduce
bears associating people with an easy fish meal,” said District Ranger Lee Benson. “Anglers are required by law to keep their creel within 12 feet or keep retained fish in the river.” Public participation is needed to minimize negative human-bear encounters in the area and determine options to reduce negative
