Burnt Complex update: August 5, 2015 Fredonia, Ariz., August 5, 2015 –
Smoke on the Burnt Complex increased today crossing portions of the North Kaibab Ranger District’s Forest Service Road (FSR) 22 and Arizona Highway 67 due to burning
operations along the wildfire’s southern perimeter boundary. Tomorrow fire crews will continue to monitor and clean up the fire’s perimeter edge and begin demobilizing as early as tomorrow evening. Local weather for the Kaibab Plateau calls for another warm day tomorrow with an anticipated 20 percent chance of precipitation.
Moisture is expected to slowly increase throughout the day to an expected 60 percent chance of precipitation by evening and continue through Friday. Fire Name/Date Started: Burnt Complex; the Burnt Fire was discovered on July 5, and
the Corral Fire on July 9. Cause:
Lightning Planning Area Boundary:
The
established 3,915-acre planning area is bound by FSR 228 on the north, FSR 274 on the south and west, and FSR 22 on
the east. Size:
3,914 acres
Smoke:
Light amounts of smoke have been visible today from portions of FSR 22, U.S. Highway 67 and throughout portions of the district near the planning area. Resources Committed: 1 Type II Wildland Fire
Module, 3 Type-6 engines, 17 wildland firefighters, 5 overhead; 22 personnel total. Closures: Currently no road or trail closures
are in effect or anticipated; however, hazard signs are posted, and motorists should exercise caution when around traveling near the planning area boundary. Get fire activity updates and maps 24 hours-a-day:
