Resource Benefit Fires Update 07.25.14 WILLIAMS, Ariz. – All natural lightning caused fires within the greater Grand Canyon area continue to grow, achieving resource
benefits as they move across the landscape. Crews are reporting good consumption of fuels and fire effects. Smoke impacts will continue to vary each day. For more information on smoke and air quality please visit

Currently 2684 acres in size, the Sitgreaves Complex is located approximately 5 miles northwest of Parks, Ariz. Fire continues to move down slope and to the south and west. Aerial ignitions may continue as needed.

Currently 3060 acres in size, the McRae Fire is located approximately 5 miles southeast of Tusayan, Ariz. Today crews will continue ignitions along FSR 305AC. Smoke may become highly visible from Highway 64 with light impacts to the town of Tusayan, Ariz. North Kaibab Ranger District:
Currently 211 acres in size, the Quaking Fire is located approximately 40 miles southeast of Fredonia, Ariz. Today crews are planning managed ignitions between FSRs 271L and 271D. Smoke is visible from the Rainbow Rim Trailhead and Highway 67. North Rim Grand Canyon:
Currently 260 acres in size, the Kanabownits Fire is located approximately 1 mile northeast of the historic Kanabownits Cabin on the Walla Valley Peninsula. Today crews are continuing to monitor the fire and complete protection work around the cabin and lookout
