Closure Order Issued for McRae Fire Planning Area
Tusayan, Ariz. – For firefighter and public safety, the Kaibab National Forest will close the 11,000 acre McRae Fire planning area to all public access. Order Number 07-14-07-F on the Tusayan
Ranger District will go into effect at 8:00am Friday July 18, 2014. It will remain in effect until rescinded or until August 15th, whichever comes first.
Although the McRae Fire is being managed for resource benefits including public safety and reduced threat of high intensity wildfires, numerous hazards still exist in the planning area at
this time. Please use extreme caution and note that:

Previously burned areas may continue to smolder and hold heat for many days.
·
Burned branches may fall from standing trees.
·
Burned stump holes may not be visible because of ash and dirt.
·
