Forest Service issues four new task orders under 4FRI umbrella
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Forest Service announced today that four task orders under the 4FRI umbrella were issued this week.
The Alder Task Order for 1,307 acres on the Apache-Sitgreaves NF was issued on September 9th. Three additional task orders for 4,400 acres on the Kaibab National Forest were issued on September 12th. These three task orders include Dog Town for 1,716 acres, KA for 1,047 acres, and Pomeroy for 1,646 acres.
Forest restoration treatments under the existing contract have already begun. Work is nearing completion on the Ranch Task Order for the treatment of 932 acres on the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests issued in April 2013.
The nation’s largest stewardship contract to treat 300,000 acres over a 10-year period as part of the Four Forest Restoration Initiative (4FRI) has been transferred from Pioneer Forest Products to Good Earth Power AZ LLC.
The 4FRI seeks to accelerate restoration at landscape levels to restore the ecological resilience and function of 2.4 million acres of ponderosa pine forests.
