Auk Nu Trail maintenance and volunteer opportunity

Juneau, AK, June 28, 2013—The U.S. Forest Service Juneau Ranger District is maintaining the Auk Nu Trail this summer. The Auk Nu Trail branches off the Spaulding Trail and ends at the John Muir Recreation Cabin. The trail work affects about a quarter mile of trail beginning at about mile 1.5 (past the first large muskeg beyond Waydelich Creek). Planking will be taken apart up to three weeks before putting gravel on the trail. Walk carefully around loose planks. The trail crew work will continue through late August.

Trail Mix, Inc. is sponsoring a volunteer day on August 17, 2013. Those who help will meet others who enjoy hiking, put in a hard day's work, and improve a public resource. Volunteers are needed to help move gravel with 5-gallon buckets. Watch the Trail Mix website at http://www.juneautrails.org/ to see how you can participate.
