Crews responding to Echo Fire near Williams, AZ City Limits
WILLIAMS, AZ – Crews are on the scene of the Echo Fire located south of Interstate 40 in the north east corner of Williams just off city property on the Kaibab National Forest. Multiple resources are responding including two city fire trucks, two US Forest Service engines, a water tender, and two patrol units.
Date/Time Reported: Monday June 17 Location: South of I-40 in NE corner of the city of Williams, AZ on USFS property Cause: Under Investigation Size: Estimated less than 2 acres
Resources: Fire behavior is minimal and relatively small with flame heights of 1-1½ feet. All fire is currently on the ground/surface only.
Landscape: Flat terrain with ponderosa pine stands. The area was part of prescribed fire approximately two years ago resulting in minimal ground fuels available.
At this time, the fire is estimated to be 1-2 acres and crews are keeping fire growth to a minimum with hose surrounding the fire at this time. The public should expect to see small amounts of smoke from Williams, AZ and along the adjacent portions of I-40.
