Pineaire Prescribed Fire Completed

WILLIAMS, Ariz. – Crews have completed the Pineaire Prescribed Fire west and north of the Maine Consolidated School in Parks. At times, smoke was heavy in the burn unit and in surrounding areas. This burn was completed in conjunction with the Ponderosa Fire Department conducting a prescribed fire on the school property at the same time.

In addition, a group of students from Northern Arizona University visited the project and talked with fire managers about prescribed fire and forest health.

Crews remain on scene patrolling the fire. Please use caution if traveling on Old Route 66 or Spring Valley Rd (Road 141). Smoke continues to drift east and south of the fire area.

Today’s work is part of an ongoing effort to reduce hazardous fuel accumulation, decrease the risk of severe wildfire, and protect communities.

Plans to ignite the City Southeast Prescribed Fire south of Williams on Monday, Oct. 22 have been canceled.

If you have any questions please call Punky Moore, Fire Information Officer, at 928-635-5653.
