Prescribed Fire Continues on Tusayan Ranger District
TUSAYAN, Ariz. – The Tusayan South Prescribed Fire will continue today as crews plan to ignite 125 acres south of the Grand Canyon Airport and west of State Highway 64. Crews completed approximately 120 acres on the project yesterday. The forecast shows warm, dry conditions and light northwest winds for today’s operations. This wind direction will help transport smoke away from Tusayan and the airport. These ongoing efforts will help reduce hazardous fuels and improve forest health south of Tusayan. No more prescribed fire is planned for the Tusayan Ranger District this week. For more information, please contact Punky Moore (928-635-5653). -USFS-
