Managers Cancel Flying J Prescribed Fire on the Tusayan Ranger District
TUSAYAN, Ariz. – Tusayan Ranger District fire managers have canceled the 300-acre Flying J prescribed fire planned for today and tomorrow due to light snow showers overnight across the project area. The unit is located 2 miles southwest of Tusayan, just west of the Grand Canyon Airport on the Kaibab National Forest. Fire specialists will continue to evaluate weather and fuels conditions for possible implementation at a later date. The objectives of the prescribed fire include returning fire to the ecosystem, reducing hazardous fuels and improving wildlife habitat.
