Kaibab National Forest Plans to Implement Spring Valley Prescribed Fire
WILLIAMS, Ariz. – Fire managers with the Kaibab National Forest are preparing to implement the Spring Valley Prescribed Fire on the Williams Ranger
District, 11 miles northeast of Williams. Pending favorable conditions and Arizona Department of Environmental Quality approval, fire crews plan to ignite the 179-acre project Wednesday,
October 19. The urban interface unit is south and west of Spring Valley Road and north of Section 16 Hill. The legal description is T23N, R4E, Sections 8, 9, & 16.
The forecast shows light winds and above normal temperatures next week. Managers expect smoke impacts in the surrounding area for a few days after
the project is completed. Fire crews will implement, monitor, and patrol the project to ensure it meets objectives outlined in the prescribed burn plan. Prescribed burns
are used to improve forest health, enhance wildlife habitat, and return fire to a fire-adapted ecosystem.
This advance notice is given to smoke sensitive people and forest visitors planning to travel, camp, or hunt near the project area. For more information,
