Parallel and Woodbridge Fire Update
TUSAYAN, Ariz. – Tusayan Ranger District officials say the Parallel Fire has grown to 3,600 acres, nine miles southeast of Tusayan and the Woodbridge Fire has grown to 1,110 acres, eighteen miles east of Tusayan.
The fires are being managed within pre-determined boundaries for each incident. The Parallel Fire is nearing the completion of its 4,300-acre management area. There is a 6,000-acre area designated for the Woodbridge Fire.
Josh Miller, Parallel Fire Incident Commander explains, “This does not mean the entire management areas have burned or will burn. The fires are burning in a mosaic pattern across the forest reducing forest debris, thinning crowded trees, increasing vegetation diversity, and meeting the objectives we have outlined for the incidents.”
Today on the Parallel fire, crews will continue work on the western edge of the management area along Forest Road 304 as conditions allow.
Personnel will monitor and patrol the Woodbridge Fire as it continues to creep and smolder near the Coconino Rim.
The forecast shows partly cloudy conditions and a slight chance of thunderstorms for the rest of the week.
There are no closures associated with these fires; however, if you are traveling on the Tusayan Ranger District, please be cautious of personnel and equipment working on and near roads around the fires.
